Privacy Policy
MenuBrief helps people evaluate restaurant menus against dietary protocols. We minimize data collection and do not sell personal information. This policy covers the MenuBrief website and mobile applications.
The short version
- MenuBrief does not currently require an account, name, phone number, or contact list.
- Protocol selections, saved items, and preferences are stored on your device unless a future feature clearly asks you to submit them.
- Precise location is optional and is used to position the map, calculate distance, and find nearby restaurants.
- We do not use advertising trackers or sell personal or consumer health data.
Location
If you grant location permission, app code uses your position to center the map, calculate distances, and request nearby results. MenuBrief does not intend to include precise latitude or longitude in analytics events or maintain a server-side location-history profile. Map tiles, network providers, operating-system services, and directions apps may independently process the area requested, IP address, or location under their own policies. You can deny or withdraw permission and browse by searching or selecting an area manually.
Protocols and health-related preferences
Your Vegan, Vegetarian, AIP, Celiac/GF, Seed-Oil-Free, Strict Keto, allergy, or similar selections may reveal health-related interests. MenuBrief treats these selections as sensitive. Current selections and saved preferences are designed to remain on your device. See our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.
Information stored on your device
MenuBrief may store onboarding consent, protocol selections, saved restaurants, display settings, recent activity, and cached restaurant data locally so the app remembers your choices and can recover from connectivity problems. You can erase local data by clearing app data or uninstalling the app.
Usage analytics
During private beta, MenuBrief may record limited product events needed to test reliability and usability, such as a screen view or feature activation. Raw search text, protocol combinations, and precise coordinates must not be transmitted as behavioral analytics. Any future expansion of analytics requires a privacy review, updated disclosure, and consent where required.
Crash reports and technical logs
Hosting, security, and diagnostic providers may process limited technical information such as IP address, browser or device type, app version, requested route, error details, and timestamps. MenuBrief must configure diagnostics to remove user fields, cookies, request bodies, request headers, precise coordinates, search text, and protocol selections before transmission. Provider records follow configured retention periods and contractual requirements.
Third-party services
Opening Directions, Reserve, a restaurant website, or another external destination leaves MenuBrief. The third party may process information under its own privacy policy. MenuBrief does not control those services.
What we do not do
- No sale or rental of personal or consumer health data.
- No targeted advertising based on protocol selections or location.
- No advertising networks or cross-site behavioral profiles.
- No restaurant certification derived from your personal information.
Children
MenuBrief is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may request access, correction, deletion, withdrawal of consent, or information about data processing, and may appeal certain decisions. Contact hello@menubrief.com. Because MenuBrief currently has no accounts, we may be unable to identify or verify records that cannot reasonably be linked to you.
Security and processing
We use HTTPS, data minimization, access controls, and restricted telemetry properties intended to protect information. No method is completely secure. MenuBrief is operated from the United States, and service providers may process technical data in the United States or other countries under applicable safeguards.
Changes and contact
We will update this policy and its effective date before materially changing these practices. Questions may be sent to hello@menubrief.com.
